3 Ways To Make Exercise Fun

3 Ways To Make Exercise Fun

Have you ever wondered why it seems so difficult to exercise every day? There are many reasons, of course. But one of the most common ones I hear is that people just get bored with it after a while. They do the same activities over and over again until eventually, they decide to stop altogether. That simply shouldn’t happen if you want your exercise program to be successful. Here are 3 ways to make exercise fun and maintain your momentum!

Vary your workout

One of the best ways to keep yourself interested in exercising is by changing things up. If you’ve been doing the same workout for a couple of weeks, you’re likely already bored with it. So keep this in mind when designing your routine.

1. Here are some ways to make sure you don’t get stuck in a rut:

  • Vary your activities. If all you do is lift weights or run, then after a while you’ll probably get tired of it. So, try to include other activities like biking, swimming, tennis or even rock climbing.
  • Vary your intensity. You can also try varying the difficulty level for any activity that you do. For example, if you’re doing resistance training at the moment then maybe increase the weight and see how it feels. If you’re on a long run then maybe shorten your stride and see how that feels instead.
  • Vary the time. When planning out your workouts, try to vary the duration as well. For example, if you’re following a particular training program then perhaps every other week do it for 30 mins instead of 60 or keep doing it for 90 mins instead of 30.
  • Vary the frequency. This is similar to varying your duration but it applies more to weight training since you can do more exercises, sets, and reps in one workout session compared with running or biking. For example, you could train 3 days per week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday instead of 5 times a week.
  • Vary your routine. Some people like following a set plan and others like to do their own thing (or even create their own). Either way, you can still vary the type of exercises that you do or change things around in order to see better results. The possibilities are endless!

2. Find An Activity You Enjoy

You must find an activity that you truly enjoy if you want to stay motivated. If you’re not enjoying your exercise then there’s no way that you’ll be excited about it every day. So choose something that works for you and actually makes you feel good when doing it. Some examples of activities to try include:

  • basketball,
  • badminton,
  • hiking,
  • cycling

3. Group Exercise

Exercising in a group might be the best way to increase your motivation levels. It’s easier to keep going if you have other people pushing you along or cheering you on from the side-lines. In fact, according to recent research, exercising in a group can even double your chances for success. Of course, you don’t have to exercise in a gym – sports and outdoor activities like biking, snowboarding, team sprots, or hiking also work too.
